Entrepreneur, Financial Analyst, New York
Inspiring and driven is an understatement when it comes to Justyna. She is a study in contradictions: biochemistry degree, mixed with Parsons design masters; from small town in Poland to working with the world's top fashion house in NYC. It is only fitting that her two professional worlds are also quite different. I also suspect that the work for the right side of the brain doesn't end at 9 PM, and carries through into weekends and holidays. I'm in awe of Justyna's determination, passion and playfulness with the idea of gifting sustainable, creative, unique and completely inspired gifts to future generations. I also applaud the goal of introducing unknown or up-and- coming artisans to the public.
1. Name
Justyna K.
2. Where is your hometown?
I was born in Dzierzoniow, a small town in south west Poland. I realize I have now lived abroad for longer than I have ever lived in Poland, but yet I feel more Polish now than ever. Strange.
3. What is your profession/career/title/self-label/designation?
Corporate 9-6. Entrepreneur 6-9.
4. What was the journey like to get where you are (career wise)? When was the mental shift to start the journey?
Looking back today, I can clearly identify the few defining moments and decisions that aligned to bring me to my present. I could actually preach about this for days, but this isn't the place. I will say, timing is key. Everything that mattered occurred at the right time. Cliche but true.
5. Biggest accomplishment since making the (physical/mental) move?
Coming to America!! No, I kid. I'm proud yes, but my biggest accomplishment is following through on my idea for Rattle Me That. Someone once said, half the job is getting started. Not many people make the jump or follow through. I followed through. There is a long bumpy road ahead, but I welcome the challenge. No one said it would be easy, they just said it would be worth it. Someone said that too. ;)
6. Advice for other women?
Trust that God has a plan.
7. Where in the world do you feel “tallest”?
In the ocean. Or the sea. The Mediterranean Sea. That's where I feel most at one. I could stay there forever.
8. What is the future goal/challenge (career goals in 5-10 years)?
10 years! That's too far. I just want to be somebody and I hope it won't take 10 years to get there!
9. What fears are you still hoping to overcome?
The act of networking. I have a lot to learn.
10. What inspires you?
Greatness.
11. Who is a “WOW Woman” in your life who inspires you (and why)?
I grew up in a family of very strong, intelligent, and working women. Especially my mom. I was taught that only hard work pays off.
12. Where can others find you/your work (links to websites, blogs, etc.)?
www.rattlemethat.com
